Computer screen (laptop)display size has changed after my son used it. What has he done?

the display is now too wide to fit on the screen, need to toggle right to read further along the screen. If I press control and the minus sign it reduces the screen size but by the time it all fits on the screen the writing / image is far to small to read/see

My son was only practising touch typing so he was not messing in areas that he should not.

Any suggestions on how to correct it would be appreciated.

Thank youComputer screen (laptop)display size has changed after my son used it. What has he done?
Easiest way is to right click on screen go properties, go to screen tab which should show the resolution of the screen, depending on the type of screen depends on the highest resolution you can have. If you do not know the normal one for your screen, set the screen resolution to 800x600 and then go up from there really until you are happy with the one you have chosenComputer screen (laptop)display size has changed after my son used it. i believe that your son must have changed the resolution of the screen that is the possible reason behind it. all you need do is to right-click on your windows desktop and click on properties after that, click on settings then set the resolution to 1280 by 1024 pixel and thereafter, click on apply and finally ,ok.
You should try changing the resolution by right clic on the desktop%26gt;properties%26gt;desplay settings%26gt; and under monitor slide the bar all the way to the right.

if that doesn't work hit the fn button and spacebar to zoom in and out.
Maybe he sold your old screen, bought a smaller second hand screen and profited the difference???
Try changing the resolution. The screen resolution determines how many pixels long and tall the screen is. The resolution may have been changed to something that is unsupported by the laptop screen. Here are the steps.

For Windows XP:

1. Right click on the desktop, then click on properties.

2. In the new window that comes up, click the settings tab, which is the farthest tab to the right.

3. Once in this window, there should be a pull-down menu with large numbers in it. Play with these different number selections until you find one that fits your screen properly.

For Windows Vista:

1. Right click on the desktop, then click on personalize.

2. In the new window that comes up, click the selection closest to the bottom called either settings or properties.

3. A new window should come up in which there should be a pull-down menu with large numbers in it. Play with these different number selections until you find one that fits your screen properly.

Hopefully this solves your problem. If it does not, then try to play around with the monitor settings by first auto adjusting it, then playing with the horizontal/vertical positioning options (after playing with the resolution, granted it either works or doesn't work).
